Food that doesn't like to travel
Why bother?
- Raising farm animals uses much more water and energy than growing vegetables and grains. This is not to say that we shouldn't raise farm animals, but reducing their consumption will go a long way.
- Buy locally. Or at least from your country of residence. Most foods travel from all around the world, its transport causing pollution! Google "local farm" in your town, there are often meet ups once/week during warmer months!

I have discovered Audry's shop on the market just across the street from where I work. They sell local meat and poultry - and milk in class bottles, just like in Russia.
I have started buying milk from them, first of all to avoid Tetrapacked stuff, and of course to support our local dairy farmers east of Ottawa.
