Wishes
"I wish you a year of...fill in the blank" - what does this really mean? Where are we hoping that these wishes will fall out from? Like health, happiness, love, etc. It's kind of a hope that this deserving person's life will be significantly improved because you wished for it to be so for their sake - we're not even wishing upon a well, or to a fairy. It's kind of like saying, "Hopefully you're healthy this year." Where will wishes come from?
Is your gift reflective of your wishes, that you're personally hoping that you'll make this difference?
Or is this another form of,
"How are you?"
"Good, you?"
"Awesome" formalities?

CAN I GET AN AMEN?! Haha :) I love that we both have a post addressing this. I hate empty, socially-expected well wishes. Couldn't agree more with this!
