Speak in subway stations, not highways,
Speak in samosas and mercimek corba, not steak,
Speak in bikes and buses, not audis and ferraris,
Speak in villages, not overcrowded cities,
Speak eloquently, not in abbreviations,
Speak in patience, not in a rush,
Speak in justice, or injustice passed.

Speak in softness, not a volume blasting,
Speak in cleanliness, not in dust,
Speak in truth, not denial of whispers around us,
Speak in tupperware, not disposable containers,
Speak in small cafes, not in franchises,
Speak of the sea, not of the swimming pool,
Speak when it matters, speak when they don't matter,
When they mention a sensitive matter,
In a manner prescribed for an ism,
Speak in reality, not in proclaimed theories,
Speak in kindness, not in selfishness,
Speak to those around you, strangers aren't a danger,
Daggers sharpened to keep them at bay,
Don't speak like that, put it away.

Speak in variety, not about yourself,
Share of yourself, to gift variety,
Speak in telephone, not in text,
Speak in more clothes, not less,
Speak in research for mental illness, not jail,
Of free education, not debt,
Speak freely, but carefully,
Confidently, yet not arrogantly,
Softly, not quietly,
Speak because hearts are listening,
In silence awaiting a word to connect to for an instant.

Speak in warm waves, in fallen leaves,
in open doors and apple crisp pies ready to eat,
Invite souls over so you can speak.
